Eva Mendes has been away from the big screen for a decade, and it doesn’t look like she’s in any rush to make a comeback. The actress is known for her roles in films like ‘Hitch‘ and ‘The Other Guys‘.
She has been focusing on family life with her long-time partner Ryan Gosling and their two daughters, Esmerelda, 10-year-old, and Amada, 8-year-old. So, what’s next for Mendes? Is she done with Hollywood for good?
What Eva Mendes Feels About Her Hollywood Career
In a recent interview with Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos, Eva Mendes opened up about the possibility of returning to acting after taking time off to raise her children.
When asked if she’s considering a return to acting, Mendes didn’t hesitate. “I don’t know. If there – you know – if there’s interesting roles,” she said, before adding, “I kinda felt like I did it, ya know? I was like, I just worked with Ryan Gosling, who’s, like, the best.”

Can we blame her? When you’ve starred alongside your partner, the heartthrob Ryan Gosling, and worked together on a project like ‘Lost River‘, which he directed, it might feel like a career high. “It was such a high off my career to work with him and what we created together that I was like, ‘This is a good time to just ‘Seinfeld’ it and just walk out.’ So, who knows?” Mendes explained.
Aside from her voice work in the ‘Bluey‘ franchise, Mendes hasn’t been in front of the camera since ‘Lost River‘. She met Gosling back in 2012 while filming ‘The Place Beyond the Pines‘, where the two played a couple. Fast forward to real life, they’re still going strong, and Mendes seems to be relishing her off-screen role as a mom.
Eva Mendes Is Focusing On Family And Mental Health
It’s clear Mendes is enjoying her time away from the limelight. “I’m so lucky to have this time with my children,” she shared on the Today show earlier this year. And it’s not just about being a mom. Mendes has shifted her focus to new projects, including writing her first children’s book.
On GMA, Mendes promoted ‘Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries‘. It’s a story that touches on a topic many parents (and kids) will relate to — mental health. “It’s a buddy story about this little girl and her brain,” Mendes said.

Adding that Desi, the main character, struggles with constant worries – something the actress admits she also deals with. “She tries to work with her brain to make sure it’s not being a bully by sending all these negative thoughts her way and instead being like a BFF,” she said.
