“I Loved It. And I Know You Loved It”: Kevin Costner Finally Confirms His Exit From ‘Yellowstone’ With Next Season Set For November Release

As speculation about his appearance in the upcoming season of the show swirled, fans were eager to know the final decision. Putting a stop to the queries, the actor has finally revealed that he would no longer be a part of the show, breaking several hearts. Here’s what he said.

Kevin Costner Says ‘Yellowstone’ “Really Changed Him”

Kevin Costner officially confirmed his exit from the hit TV series ‘Yellowstone‘, thereby putting an end to months of speculation about his future on the show. The 69-year-old actor played the lead role of ranch owner John Dutton on the show since the series premiered in 2018.

Costner took to Instagram to make the announcement via a video post. In the video, Costner expressed his love for the series and his appreciation for the fans but stated that he would not be able to continue with the show because of his commitments to his upcoming film, ‘Horizon‘.

I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5B or into the future. It was something that really changed me. I loved it. And I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning and I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop and I’ll see you at the movies,” Costner said in his video post.

Kevin Costner Had Not Confirmed His Exit From ‘Yellowstone’ Until Recently

The rumors about Kevin Costner’s exit from the show first gained traction in 2023. It was also reported at the time that his exit would bring the series to an early conclusion. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show follows the lives of American ranchers and land developers in rural Montana and has grown into one of the most successful TV programs in recent years despite initially dividing critics.

Costner’s exit also laid ground for other rumors suggesting a behind-the-scenes drama between Sheridan and Costner had. Reports suggested that this tension was a factor in Costner’s decision to leave. Up until recently, Costner had not completely ruled out a possible return, asserting that he would indeed consider returning to the show if some of his demands are met.

However, his latest announcement confirms his permanent exit from the series. The final episodes of season five will air this November. ‘Yellowstone‘ who were eagerly waiting for the next chapter of the show will now have to bid a tearful goodbye to Costner’s John Dutton.
