“I Have Taken A Beating From Those F***ing Guys”: Kevin Costner On His Dramatic Exit From ‘Yellowstone’

Yellowstone‘ fans are having a hard time. They haven’t received any further seasons of the show for more than a year and now the Kevin Costner drama. He left the show due to scheduling conflicts and a lack of script for the 5th season.

Now there’s more to this dispute. Costner addressed it once more, saying that ‘Yellowstone’ was his subordinate priority as compared to the other projects. His contract was for three seasons only but the makers decided to redo the contract after splitting up season 5 in two parts with a potential sixth season.

During an interview with Deadline Costner said that ‘Yellowstone’ was his subordinate to the other projects and “wasn’t truthful.” His contract was made for only three seasons but the makers of the show redo another season and extended it till the fifth season in two parts with the sixth season, which wasn’t there in the contract.

He added that his upcoming project ‘Horizon: An American Saga’, was scheduled to shoot between ‘Yellowstone‘ but the gap between both the projects kept moving. “I don’t want to get down in the gutter with the Yellowstone thing but what I’m telling you is straight up. I have taken a beating from those f—ing guys and I know a lot of times where it’s coming from. I just elected not to get into that,”  Costner said during the interview.

He added, “I made Yellowstone the first priority, and to insinuate anything else would be wrong.” They weren’t sticking up to the contract and he even left the shooting for ‘Horizon’ for the 5 seasons of ‘Yellowstone‘ but it finished with the initial eight seasons only.

The entire conflict and unfinished scripts led to shut shutdown of the season of ‘Yellowstone’. Costner was also accused of being late on set, to which he replied, “bulls***,” stating that he “lived up to” the terms of his contract at the time.

He added, “What you read in the end was that I said, ‘Well, look, I’m doing my movie. If you want me to work a week because you want to kill me or whatever else, I can give you a week.”

Costner claimed that he never missed a day at work and never left to fulfill all his contract demands. The situation got so worse that he didn’t have work for more than a year and he couldn’t go through the same situation.

Kevin Costner explaining his situation added, “Didn’t tell anybody and I didn’t work for 14 months,” he said. “I said, ‘I can’t ever go through that again, where you shut down for over a year and I don’t have something in line to do.” He continued, “All I did was protect myself, but I didn’t put myself in first position, over Yellowstone. I filled the gaps.”
