No star wants to miss an opportunity to act in a good movie, Chris Hemsworth included. But the ‘Thor’ actor’s luck didn’t work in a movie directed by Kevin Costner. Hemsworth openly talked about wanting to be cast in one of Costner’s films which he found “abstract and interesting…a small story about a man and a woman.”
Hemsworth talked about how he was introduced to a script that he loved and wanted to work on. Later someone revealed to him that Kevin Costner was the director and he was ready to be in the cast and even tried convincing the veteran actor for an hour or so.
“There was a movie, a script that I’d read and loved and was like, ‘I want to get that,’ and then someone said, ‘Kevin Costner has that [role].’ I’d love [to have] him as a director. I was like, ‘Goddamnit!’ [I spent] an hour the other day trying to convince him, and he was like, ‘I’m doing it, kid.’ Didn’t work. I didn’t get the part” Hemsworth said while talking with Entertainment Tonight.
While attending CinemaCon at the Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, Kevin talked with ET and shared that he is still young enough to play such roles. He said, “It’s a love story, but as long as I’m still young enough to play it, I’ll play it. Chris will have to wait his turn.”

Kevin Costner Counts Chris Hemsworth As One Of The “Great Leading Men”
Kevin Costner even praised the looks and acting skills of Chris Hemsworth. “He’s so handsome and he’s so good,” he continued. “He’s going to have to go find his [own] love story. [But] I’m glad he likes this one,” He added. Moreover, he did confirm that he would love to work with Chris in the future, so the hopes aren’t lost yet. Kevin continues, “If I reach a moment where I [don’t] think I could do that, I would [reach out]. He’s certainly one of our great leading men right now.”
Costner is directing ‘Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1‘ which will be released on June 28 and Chapter 2 will be released on August 16. On the other hand, Hemsworth is looking forward to the release of ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga‘, which is all set to be released on May 24.
