Margot Robbie was interviewed by WSJ Magazine as the recipient of the entertainment innovator of 2022. In the interview, the star talks about her acting and production careers, her movie roles, and her upcoming films.

Margot Robbie Often Channels Animals
The ‘Babylon’ director Damien Chazelle has created a “fully animalistic” role of the character Nellie LeRoy. And he wanted someone of such a demeanor. “I needed someone…utterly fearless—I had a sense that she would attack it,” he says. “There’s this sort of ravenous physical bravado to her. On the other hand, she’s also the most technically skilled thespian you could hope to work with as a director,” Chazelle explained.
And it was not an easy task for even Margot Robbie. “I’ve never worked that hard in my life,” the actress said about her role in Babylon. “[I was] shattered by the end of that job,” Robbie added. The star shared one of her secrets for getting into the role-channeling animals. For Nellie in ‘Babylon’, she had channeled two creatures- an octopus and a honey badger. Octopus for its fluid and transformative features and the latter for being a fighter and thick-skinned.

“I’m A Masochist”: Robbie’s Love For Exhausting Roles
The Australian-born actress has a love for exhausting roles. “I’m a masochist. I can always find a fifth gear,” Robbie explains her part. From ‘I, Tonya‘ to ‘Birds of Prey’ to ‘Babylon‘, the roles that Robbie chooses need physical exertion that is astounding. Even her co-stars wonder at the dedication that the actress puts forward. “She is an actor who comes armed with every piece of preparation and every possibility explored,” says Greta Gerwig, the director of the upcoming movie, ‘Barbie’. The star has a set of movies coming up this fall- David O. Russell’s ‘Amsterdam‘ and ‘Babylon‘, written and directed by Damien Chazelle.
