J.K. Rowling is one of the most influential authors of the modern era. The 57-year-old writer gained global fame and success with the seven-volume children’s fantasy series ‘Harry Potter.’ These books have spawned a massive media franchise consisting of films and video games.
However, in recent years, the British author has received a lot of backlash over her views on transgender people. Many have called her transphobic, including actors from the ‘Harry Potter‘ films. Recently, Rowling said that she doesn’t think about her legacy as she will be dead.

J.K. Rowling Doesn’t Think About Her Legacy
Author J.K. Rowling has been at the receiving end of a lot of backlash over the years over her views on transgender people. While many call her transphobic, some have praised her for her comments.
While talking on the podcast ‘The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling’, the author said she doesn’t care about her legacy being tarnished because of the backlash. She also maintains that she “never meant to upset anyone” with her comments.
She further added, “I do not walk around my house, thinking about my legacy”. “You know, what a pompous way to live your life walking around thinking, ‘What will my legacy be?’ Whatever, I’ll be dead. I care about now. I care about the living.”
Rowling said that people “could not have misunderstood me more profoundly” over the alleged comments on the trans community.

Brian Cox Defends Rowling
While Rowling has been widely criticized for her comments, there are a few celebrities who have publicly defended her over the backlash. One of them is the Scottish actor Brian Cox.
Cox said that he doesn’t like “the way she’s been treated, actually”. “I think she’s entitled to her opinion; she’s entitled to say what she feels”, he said. “As a woman, she’s very much entitled to say what she feels about her own body, and there’s nobody better to say that, as a woman.”
Last year, Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort in the ‘Harry Potter‘ franchise, also came out in Rowling’s support.
