Former One Direction member Liam Payne‘s death has sent shockwaves across the music industry as well as among his millions of fans worldwide. As many grieve the tremendous loss, some disturbing details about the recent happenings in the singer’s life are coming forward.
As per reports, the singer “jumped” off the balcony of his hotel room on the third floor under the “influence of drugs or alcohol“. While the exact circumstances of his death are not clear, it has come to light that he had warned his ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, of his possible death during their conversations in the recent past.
Maya Henry Said Liam Payne Would Often “Play With Death” During Their Conversations
Less than 48 hours before Liam Payne’s death, his ex-fiancé Maya Henry spoke out about disturbing facts from their recent interactions during an interview with ‘The Internet Is Dead‘ podcast. She claimed that the former One Direction crooner “would always play with death” during their talks.
Even though they permanently ended their relationship in May 2022 after a previous breakup in 2021, Maya claimed that Payne kept contacting her “repeatedly” to manipulate her into feeling bad for him.
“He would always be messaging me, even after we broke up, saying, ‘Oh, I’m not well,’ or ‘I’m going to die.’ It felt like a manipulation tactic so I’d continue to feel bad for him,” she said.
She felt his problems were related to his mental health, but he didn’t want to get help. “There was once a time when I was trying to get him to seek help, but he just wasn’t taking it,” she revealed, noting how Payne would even call her mother if she ignored his messages, begging her to reach out.
Liam Payne Had Said He’s “Not Going To Be Around Much Longer”
Maya Henry said Liam Payne’s alarming behavior allegedly came back after she announced her book in February 2024. “He called my mom and said, ‘I don’t think I’m going to be around much longer,'” Maya recalled, pointing out her instinct to help him despite their complicated past. “I don’t play with death, so if you say something like that, I’m going to try to help you no matter what.”

Though Maya admitted she did not love him anymore, she felt a responsibility to him and therefore offered to help him get into rehab. “He’s still somebody’s child, somebody’s brother. If it were my brother, I’d want someone to help him too,” she said. Maya vaguely mentioned that things went bad recently, but she restrained from saying anything more because of legal purposes.
The singer was found dead on October 16 after he fell from the third floor of his Buenos Aires hotel.
