‘Scrubs‘ is a quirky, heartwarming, and sometimes gut-wrenching medical comedy that ran from 2001 to 2010. Created by Bill Lawrence, the series quickly gained a cult following. And even after all these years, it’s still a fan-favorite. So, it’s no wonder that every time Lawrence shows his face in public (or tweets for that matter), he’s hounded with the same burning question: “When is the ‘Scrubs’ reboot happening?“
But it’s not just the fans who can’t seem to let go of Sacred Heart Hospital. Lawrence himself hasn’t ruled out the idea of revisiting the world of ‘Scrubs.’ In fact, he’s been teasing a possible reboot, albeit half-jokingly, to get people to stop asking about the future of his other hit show, ‘Ted Lasso.’

Bill Lawrence Opens Up About His Love For ‘Scrubs’
Bill Lawrence recently opened up about the continued passion fans have for ‘Scrubs‘ during an interview with Variety. “It’s fascinating to me that the passion for ‘Scrubs’ has, I’m so grateful, never died,” Lawrence said. “Maybe it’s because Zach and Donald are such friends in real life and doing their podcast, and those T-Mobile commercials,” he added.
However, Lawrence pointed out a significant hurdle. “None of us really need it, and that’s probably the biggest barrier to entry — everybody’s super successful, so talented and lovely,” he said. And who’s going to argue with that?
The cast is busy dominating Hollywood, but let’s not forget, they’re also like family. Who wouldn’t want an excuse to hang out with their old crew again anyway?

Could We Really See A ‘Scrubs’ Reboot?
So, what’s really standing in the way of a ‘Scrubs‘ reboot? There are still plenty of obstacles — ‘Scrubs‘ is a Disney show, and Lawrence has a deal with Warner Bros. TV. And the series’ cast is all pretty busy with a multitude of projects.
But the good news is, Lawrence hasn’t lost hope. “The business part of it can always get mucked up. But I’m super hopeful,” he shared. “It would be fun to do not just because we want an excuse to hang out with each other, but because it’d be fun to do creatively.”
And let’s be real, we’re all a little curious to see what the old gang would look like in today’s medical landscape. Would J.D. still be the daydreaming doc we know and love? What kind of mentor would Turk be? And how would the new generation of young medics navigate the craziness of Sacred Heart (or a new hospital, who knows?) in 2024?
According to Lawrence, “It would be interesting to see those characters older and see what new young kids look like in medicine right now, because it is a heroic profession, and no one’s doing it to get rich.“
All fans can do for now is wait for an update.
