Elon Musk is one of the most powerful and influential names on this planet. The South African billionaire is one of the richest people; he owns and operates several multinational companies. Apart from heading Twitter, Musk owns SpaceX, Tesla as well as The Boring Company.

Did Elon Musk Start From Scratch?
Elon Musk was born in the family of Maye Musk and Errol Musk. Maye is a model and dietitian while his father Errol is a pilot, electromechanical engineer, sailor, consultant, and property developer.
Errol was also one of the owners of an Emerald mine in Zambia. In 1995, Musk got a Ph.D. program at Stanford University in materials science. However, he dropped out of the program and ventured into business.
In the same year, he along with his brother Kimbal, and Greg Kouri started Zip2 which provided online city guide software to newspapers. He reportedly received $28,000 from Errol to start the business.
While Musk maintains that they invested the entire sum in the money but still went broke just weeks after starting the company, it is undoubtedly clear that he got the needed financial push in the beginning from his family.

Musk’s Tryst With Twitter
In October 2022, Musk bought Twitter after the social media giant dragged him to court for backing out of the deal. The billionaire ended up paying $44 billion to buy the company. He had to sell several of his Tesla shares to get the funds.
In order to quickly generate profit and cut costs, Musk went on a firing spree and laid off around half of its employees. Since then, he has also stopped paying rent for Twitter’s office space across the globe.
Ever since Musk took over, several celebrities like Elton John, Gigi Hadid, and Whoopi Goldberg left the platform. Many advertisers also backed out but Musk claims that most of them have returned.
