Right after Musk took over Twitter, several celebrities distanced themselves from the micro-blogging site over policy changes and the new boss’s work ethic. Elton John has joined that list.

On December 9, John announced that he will be leaving the platform. “All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world,” he tweeted.

After John’s announcement, Musk took to Twitter to respond. “I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?” he wrote.

Recently, the company will not be enforcing a policy to fight misinformation related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company has been at the center of controversy for unbanning several problematic individuals like Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, and Kanye West.

Celebrities like Jim Carrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Shonda Rhimes Jamela Jamil, Trent Reznor, Gigi Hadid, and Stephen Fry have also quit Twitter. Advertisers have also started to distance themselves from the company which has resulted in losses surmounting millions.
