Right after the acquisition of Twitter, the world’s richest man fired nearly half of its workforce to cut costs. Now, his actions have brought him to court.

Several fired employees have filed cases against Musk over the terms of their terminations. Lawyer Shannon Liss-Riordan said, “It’s very concerning that the richest man in the world thinks that he can walk all over employee rights and doesn’t have to follow the law. We intend to hold him accountable“.

Liss-Riordan is leading one of the cases against Musk. They claim that a lot of employees did not receive the promised severance and compensation from the company. It includes bonuses, stock options, and an exit package.

Right after taking over, Musk had told his Twitter employees to embrace a “hardcore” work ethic or quit. The lawyers are claiming that it ignored California law by denying compensation and the 60-day warning time.

He also squashed the work-from-home condition and ordered all his employees to work from the office. Amir Shevat, a former employee said: “There was a blunt disregard for personal conditions such as relevant medical issues. All this was done while Elon Musk was abusing us in public on Twitter“.

The South African billionaire also recently installed bedrooms in the San Francisco headquarter for employees to work longer hours.
