Johnny Depp is rumored to be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie franchise five years after the last film, ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’, was released. According to recent reports, the boozy buccaneer scheduled for a test shoot in the UK in February. The 59-year-old made his debut as Sparrow in ‘The Curse Of The Black Pearl’ back in 2003.
The first five films grossed over £3.4billion worldwide and were reported to have made Depp over £200million. However, his future at the franchise was a question mark after his public trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp, who split from Amber Heard, 36, in 2016 after a year of marriage, went on to sue her for defamation in the US and won in June.

Is Johnny Depp Returning As Jack Sparrow?
According to The Sun, the working title of the new film, being made by Disney, was ‘A Day At The Sea’. A source also noted, “Johnny is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow and is scheduled to start filming at the beginning of February at a top secret location in the UK. Everything is in the early stages and there is still no director attached to the project, which is being called A Day At The Sea. Johnny is expected to do a test shoot in early February before the production gets fully underway.”
“A call sheet has been distributed among those in the know. Bruce Hendricks, who worked on the first three films, is named as the Executive Producer on the new project. All the other details are being kept under lock and key. The whole project is shrouded in secrecy and Disney want to keep everything under wraps as best they can.”

Why Jack Sparrow’s Return Was A Question Mark?
It was unknown whether Depp would grace screens as Sparrow ever again following a debilitating loss in his 2020 libel trial. He was branded as a “wife beater” — until he claimed victory against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, in a defamation lawsuit this year. In 2016, the pair’s rocky relationship was dead in the water.
Depp’s reputation was decimated when 36-year-old Heard later penned an op-ed discussing alleged abusive behavior, despite her claiming the personal essay was not about him. As for Depp’s interest in working with Disney ever again — he’s seemingly made it clear that ship has sailed. Since the trial, he’s been booked and busy, touring with Jeff Beck, featuring in Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty show and reportedly dating one of his trial lawyers.
