Eric Stonestreet’s Sexual Orientation
Cameron Tucker is happily married to his long-time loving boyfriend Mitchell Pritchett and the couple also expanded their family of two on the show. Meanwhile, Eric Stonestreet is living a different life from the one on-screen. Stonestreet stated that he is openly straight unlike his character in ‘Modern Family’. In spite of being straight, Stonestreet enjoyed playing Cam for 11 seasons and is a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.
Eric also revealed that playing Cam changed his life. Meanwhile, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Stonestreet’s on-screen husband is openly gay and his coming out story inspired the character arc of Mitchell. Stonestreet also opened up about some early concerns he had over embarking on the role of Cam. He felt particularly protective of his co-star, Ferguson who is openly gay, “I was worried from the beginning that I was going to be part of a gay bashing of sorts.”
In fact, Eric would constantly ask Jesse whether he was doing justice to his gay character in ‘Modern Family‘ and he would have to calm him down. Jesse revealed about Eric, “He would always kind of check in with me to make sure he’s on the right track. And finally I was like, ‘You need to stop doing that ’cause you’re doing a really great job.”

Is Eric Stonestreet Married?
While he was married to Jesse Tyler Fergurson on screen, Eric Stonestreet’s off-screen life was completely different. America’s favorite homosexual character is engaged to his long-time girlfriend in real life. On August 22, 2021, Stonestreet proposed to his girlfriend, Lindsay Schweitzer, who is a pediatric nurse. According to Page Six, the couple met in 2016 at a charity event back and have been dating since then.
While on The Ellen Degeneres Show Eric Stonestreet said about his future wife, “I’m a big baby, too. She calms me — she calms my nerves. I’m a very high-strung person.”
Though Stonestreet might not be gay in real life, his off-screen persona is similar to that of Cameron Tucker. The one thing the couple has in common is their background and appreciation for pig farming. The Emmy Winner said, “We both are cut from the same cloth” since Stonestreet and Schweitzer come from a farm background.
