The Oscars this year were a star-studded event that marked some outstanding victories for some exceptional stars and cinematic pieces. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the awards ceremony was filled with some dazzling performances, healthy banters, and emotional gratitude speeches amid an anticipated competition.
As the host, Jimmy Kimmel seized the spotlight as he threw some healthy banters at certain celebrities. One of them was none other than former President Donald Trump. Before wrapping up the 96th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, the comedian addressed one of Trump’s posts on Truth Social wherein he had given a scathing review of Kimmel’s hosting skills.
Jimmy Kimmel Responds To Donald Trump’s Criticism Of Him
Jimmy Kimmel wrapped up the Oscars ceremony by reading former President Donald Trump’s comments aloud. “Doing this show is not about me, and I appreciate you having me. It’s really about you and Oscar and all these great actors and actresses and filmmakers,” Kimmel said. “But I was told I had an extra minute and I’m really proud of something, and I was wondering if I could share it with you?”
“I just go a review…” he said, before pulling up the post and quoting Trump. “Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.”

“Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos,” Trump’s post read, referencing Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos who had recently interviewed Republican lawmaker Nancy Mace. “He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous.”
An unfazed Kimmel then responded to Trump’s remarks: “Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. I’m surprised, isn’t it past your jail time?” The punchline hit the mark, as the star-studded crowd at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood burst into a wave of laughter.

Celebrities Showed Support For Gaza By Wearing Red Pins Amid Ongoing Israel Palestine War
Despite the brief political banter, the 96th Oscars largely steered clear of political commentary. It was mostly focused on the celebration of film achievements. Kimmel’s response, however, added kept the audience entertained.
However, the three-and-a-half-hour ceremony was not entirely devoid of global conflicts. Several actors and celebrities wore red pins representing Artists4Ceasefire — a collective advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.
Among the prominent figures wearing the pins were Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Ava DuVernay, Eugene Lee Yang, and Billie Eilish.
