She declared, “I’m Kim Kardashian, of course I have a tanning bed and a red light bed in my office.”
Now when there is a Kardashian, controversy has to follow. Kim’s tour got many people expressing their opinions on her office amenities. One Allure opinion piece read, “Please, Kim Kardashian, Don’t Try to Normalize Tanning Beds,” discussing the elevated risk of skin cancer that comes with tanning indoors.
Kim is not known to sit down a controversy, she claps right back and this time is no different. Responding to Allure‘s critique, Kardashian explained on Twitter, “I have psoriasis and it really helps when it’s bad. But I don’t use it too often.” The star defended her occasional use of tanning beds as a coping mechanism for her autoimmune condition.

Fans Weigh In On Kim Kardashian’s Tanning Choices
The founder of SKIMS got a spectrum of reactions. While some supported Kardashian, citing their own psoriasis battles, others cautioned against normalizing the practice. On Twitter, one fan shared, “Humira helps my psoriasis and a tanning bed helps as well like you said. Looking good Kim.” Another went, “Still don’t try to normalize it, or at least state why you’re using it.. Your followers would be using it without knowing why… And IT COULD CAUSE complications.”
This is not the first time Kim has talked about her battle with Psoriasis though. She has been pretty vocal about the autoimmune disease throughout her career. She has said, “If you have psoriasis, you can’t let it ruin your life or get the best of you. You have to do what you can to make sure you are comfortable but not let it take over.”
Kim told fans at the time, “I hope my story can help anyone else with an autoimmune disease feel confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel.” What she didn’t tell was that the light is under the UV tunnel.
