According to multiple insiders from People, Ben Affleck wasn’t just tagging along for the ride. You might have thought the documentary was just another chapter in Lopez’s career, but the truth is, it was his idea from the start.

Contrary to the public’s perception, Ben Affleck was not just a supportive spouse in the background of Jennifer Lopez’s latest documentary. In reality, he had significant creative control over ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told,’ released in February 2024.

A source close to the couple spilled the beans, stating, “He was the one who had control, pretty much.” Affleck was reportedly very much in favor of the project, so much so that he pushed Lopez to dive into it.

In fact, insiders reveal that this documentary was actually Affleck’s brainchild. “The documentary was Ben’s idea for his company, Artists Equity. Jennifer’s team didn’t want to do it since she was focused on the album and Amazon original video project,” a source explained.

If you’ve seen the documentary, you might remember that Ben Affleck appeared somewhat hesitant. But, according to those in the know, that was all part of his plan. One source disclosed, “He definitely took it away from the director so he could have the narrative he wanted out there.”

Interestingly, the documentary took on a new meaning after the couple announced their split on August 20, 2024, exactly two years after their Southern wedding. They broke up for the first time in 2004 before rekindling their romance nearly two decades later.

At the time, people thought it was funny, and now the press is reporting [Affleck] wasn’t happy with that life [in the public eye],” a source shared. “But he not only supported that life, he encouraged it. The need for the documentary was his idea.”

Well, Bennifer never ceases to amaze!
