“It’s Dangerous But Weirdly Nothing Changes”: Margot Robbie Reveals Why She Is Scared Of Paparazzi Culture

Margot Robbie, in her recent cover story interview with Vanity Fair, has opened up about a lot of her inner thoughts on movies, filming, acting, personal life, and the paparazzi culture. The Australian actress has amassed worldwide recognition and fame with her phenomenal performances in movies like ‘Suicide Squad‘ among others. Harley Quinn found the best actress that could ever give justice to her character.

Being an A-list celebrity, therefore, has gotten her under sharp media scrutiny, stalking, surveillance and privacy invasion. The actress has a plenty of disturbing memories with the paparazzi. Quite understandably, her anger with the paparazzi culture is quite justified. In fact, Margot also revealed what actually went behind the much circulated pictures of hers in which she was speculated to be crying after leaving Cara Delevingne’s house.

The ‘Babylon‘ actress faces paparazzi both in the States and in her native country, Australia. However, she revealed that in L.A. there are artist-protecting rules while in Australia there aren’t. Her family back in Australia has been time and again harassed and followed by the media. “If my mom dies in a car accident because you wanted a photo of me going in the grocery shop, or you knock my nephew off a bike—for what? For a photo?” Robbie said. She also added, “It’s dangerous but still weirdly nothing feels like it changes.

Similarly, once, along with her friend, Cara Delevingne, on a vacation in Argentina, while getting into a taxi, a paparazzo attempted to take their pictures. Soon reports came that Robbie has been injured. When Vanity Fair asked if she was hurt, Robbie replied, “No, but I could have been“. She didn’t talk much about the episode since there is ongoing legal action between the two parties.

A few months back, a set of new paparazzi photos of Margot were published by Page Six, claiming that she left Cara’s house crying due to Cara’s recent unusual and erratic behavior. Following the circulation of the news, Margot’s mum called her to ask if everything was okay between the two of them.

“‘I’m like, ‘First of all, yes and yes.’ And second of all, I’m not at Cara’s house—I’m outside an Airbnb that I was renting for five days! And I’m not crying!’ I had something in my eye. I’m trying to grab my face mask, trying to hold a coffee cup, and I couldn’t get a hair outta my eye,” Margot shared what she replied to her mum.

Over the years, the actress has come to accept that the media and print often circulate false news. She said, “You want to correct it, but you just can’t. You have to, I don’t know, look the other way.” As for interviews, she said, “They only want sound bites and I don’t resent them for it, I get it—they’ve got three minutes but it’s like tap dancing through a minefield because you’re so tired and you’ve done it for hours and hours, and to keep on guard all the time…. You can say it right a thousand times, but you say it wrong once, you’re f-cked.”
