Will Grant Gustin Reprise His Role As The Flash In The DCU?
It is no secret that Grant Gustin was the fan’s obvious and popular choice for the Speedster over Ezra Miller. Amidst the criminal activities and string of arrests, the audience really wanted Gustin to replace Miller. Gustin has made a name for himself in the superhero universe by playing the Scarlet Speedster in The CW’s Arrowverse.
Arrowverse is a connected group of superheroes consisting of Arrow, Batwomen, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and Black Lightning. On 24 May 2023, Gustins raced for one last time before hanging up his tights once and for all.
James Gunn dodges the question about whether Grant Gustin’s Flash will be seen reprising his role. The director is known to be active on the social media platform, and answering all the fan’s queries, but did not reveal the real intention behind Gustin and his social media interaction.
Gunn addressed a question posed by @matthewchadd1987 on Threads about the filmmaker’s activity with Gustin online. “Hey, James. It seems you’re following Grant Gustin on Instagram. Is it true that he is joining your DCU reboot as Barry Allen/The Flash again, or is he playing a different comic book character, please? Thank you very much, James”. To which Gunn replied, “Grant was following me, and I like him as an actor. So, we chatted a bit, and I followed him back. Very simple!”

James Gunn Answers The Most Asked Fan Question On Flash
James Gunn might be one of the only directors who is constantly active on social media including Threads and X. Gunn never misses out on chances to reply to the fans. But this time Gunn surprisingly dodged the question about Grant Gustin’s possible addition to the rebooted DCEU.
James Gunn kept his answer cryptic when a fan asked him on social media if Grant Gustin’s version of Barry Allen. Some fans chimed in on the earlier conversation as they felt at odds with @matthewchadd1987’s reasoning behind the speculation of Gustin’s addition to the DCEU.
In the same Thread, @fabianogama wrote, “I’ve heard you [James Gunn] put ice in your cup of water and use fire to cook your meals. Does that mean you will cast Fire & Ice characters in Superman: Legacy?”
Another user, @theladyflash also wrote, “Lmao people are reading into everything like they’re Sherlock Holmes.” However, James Gunn has made it clear that if the DCEU casting doesn’t come from him then fans should not believe it. For the time being Gustin’s Flash does not seem to be a part of the rebooted DCEU. Maybe soon in the future, Gunn might bring back fans’ favorite Flash.
