A deeply personal letter from Jennifer Aniston to her late Friends co-star Matthew Perry has been quietly pulled from a charity auction of his personal belongings, with Heritage Auctions confirming the withdrawal.

The handwritten note was found inside a photo album from the cast’s private farewell party. People believe it was written around the time the show ended in 2004. It was supposed to be sold on June 5 to raise money for the Matthew Perry Foundation, but now it’s gone from the listing. The auction house would not say why the letter was removed, and Aniston’s representatives have not replied to requests for comment.

The letter got a lot of attention because of how honest and emotional it was. It gave people a rare look at how close the two co-stars really were. In the note, which Aniston addressed to “Matty,” she did not avoid talking about his well-known struggles with addiction. Instead, she celebrated how he kept fighting.

Matty! Oh my God….How am [I] going to live without your light in my life on a daily basis?” the letter reads. “I know that the light has been dimmed at times, and there were moments I was so scared it was going to go out all together. You have always come back.”

Aniston also wrote about how thankful she was that he survived. “Thank you for choosing to live this life. You have so much to give and not just to the masses with your talent but as a friend and a husband and a father.” She ended the letter with a simple, powerful promise: “I am so proud of you, and I am always here for you. You may not think to call me, but I am always here. I love you.

A typed poem about love and “beginning again” was included with the note, signed with a hand-drawn heart.

Perry died in October 2023 at age 54 from the acute effects of ketamine. He had always been open about his struggles with drugs and alcohol. The auction was meant to continue his work helping others, with proceeds set to benefit the foundation he established to support people battling addiction.

Even without Aniston’s letter, the other 130 items up for sale still include some amazing pieces of TV history. A signed copy of the ‘Friends‘ series finale script already has bids over $500,000. A Banksy artwork that Perry once owned could sell for nearly $1 million.

Why The Withdrawal Shows Respect For Matthew Perry And Jennifer Aniston’s Private Bond

Pulling the letter from the auction shows a respect for how personal Perry’s keepsakes were. He held onto that album for twenty years. Taking the letter out of the public sale also spares Aniston the pain of watching her private words become just something to buy and sell, especially the line about being scared his “light” would go out.

For fans, the letter still stands as a powerful final proof of the bond between Chandler Bing and Rachel Green. It shows that off-screen, Aniston was exactly the loyal, supportive friend she always seemed to be. She tried to save a man she loved from his darkest moments, long before the rest of the world knew how close she came to losing him.
