Jennifer Lawrence is a big name in Hollywood. Starring in huge franchises like ‘The Hunger Games‘ and ‘X-Men‘ or the Oscar-nominated film, ‘Silver Linings Playbook,’ she has carved her position in the industry deep and bold. In her recent cover interview with Vogue, the actress talked about films, motherhood, and her married life, but most loudly on the politics of America.
The 32-year-old actress didn’t sit back when it came to boldly sharing her political views, especially on gender equality, her being the victim of it many times now. While sharing her anger and disappointment at Roe v. Wade decision, she also revealed her own almost-abortion story.
Jennifer Lawrence: “I Can’t F*ck With People Who Aren’t Political Anymore”
It didn’t take much for the actress to express her frustrations over the current political atmosphere in the United States. She was straight with her political views, and even boldly stated, “I can’t f*ck with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people.”
The overturning of the Roe has enraged the actress deeply. With abortion rights also staked off, Lawrence couldn’t stop thinking about the socio-political plight of women in the country. Expressing her disbelief over Trump getting elected, Lawrence told Vogue, “It breaks my heart because America had the choice between a woman and a dangerous, dangerous jar of mayonnaise. And they were like, Well, we can’t have a woman. Let’s go with the jar of mayonnaise.”
She also added, “I don’t want to disparage my family, but I know that a lot of people are in a similar position with their families. How could you raise a daughter from birth and believe that she doesn’t deserve equality? How?”

Jennifer Almost Had An Abortion And Suffered Two Miscarriages
While talking about the deplorable political state of women in the USA, Lawrence also narrated her own story of an almost-abortion in her 20s, especially now that she herself is a mom. The actress and her husband Cooke Maroney welcomed their son, Cy, in February.
In her early 20s, Lawrence got pregnant, but before she could get an abortion, she had a miscarriage. A few years back while shooting ‘Don’t Look Up,‘ Jennifer was pregnant and married, and really wanted to have a baby, but unfortunately, another miscarriage happened. All of her own personal experiences make the actress fear for the young women who will be forced to continue their pregnancies.
“I remember a million times thinking about it while I was pregnant. Thinking about the things that were happening to my body. And I had a great pregnancy. I had a very fortunate pregnancy. But every single second of my life was different. And it would occur to me sometimes: What if I was forced to do this?,” Jennifer said. She also commented, “It’s too personal to a female’s existence to watch white men debate over uteruses when they, from the bottom of their hearts, can’t find a clitoris.”
At this point, Lawrence also questioned the gun laws, which are, ironically, threatening the very grown-up children they ask not to abort. Lawrence shared her own fear, considering her son Cy will also be going to school someday. “I’m raising a little boy who is going to go to school one day. Guns are the number-one cause of death for children in the United States. And people are still voting for politicians who receive money from the NRA. It blows my mind,” she said.
