Olivia Wilde-directed ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘ has been in the news for a long time. From feud on sets to Harry Styles apparently spitting on Chris Pine to a lot of other things. One of the characters in the film, played by Pine, is based on Jordan Peterson. He is a Canadian psychologist, author, and professor emeritus at the University of Toronto.
In a recent interview, the 60-year-old media personality responded to Wilde calling him “a hero to the incel community.” Let’s find out what he said about the director and his villainous portrayal in the film.
Jordan Peterson Responds To Comments Of Olivia Wilde
Chris Pine‘s character in Olivia Wilde’s ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘ was based on Jordan Peterson. The 60-year-old Canadian author has now responded to one of Wilde’s comments where she called him “a hero to the incel community.”
In his recent interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Peterson broke down in tears when he was asked about her comment. “Sure. Why not?”, he said when Piers Morgan asked if Wilde’s assessment of him was true.
“You know, people have been after me for a long time because I’ve been speaking to disaffected young men,” he continued. Wilde had called him “this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community.”
He continued, “It’s very difficult to understand how demoralized people are, and certainly many young men are in that category. You get these casual insults, these incels — what do they mean? These men, they don’t know how to make themselves attractive to women who are very picky, and good for them. Women, like, be picky. That’s your gift, man. Demand high standards from your men. Fair enough. But all these men who are alienated, it’s like they’re lonesome and they don’t know what to do and everyone piles abuse on them.”
Wilde Modelled Chris Pine’s Character On Peterson
Chris Pine plays the role of Frank, an antagonistic boss and the founder of the ‘Victory Project’ in ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘. Wilde had called out Peterson for preaching entitlement to men.
She had described incels as “disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to sex from women. And they believe that society has now robbed them — that the idea of feminism is working against nature, and that we must be put back into the correct place.”
The actress turned director further said, “this guy Jordan Peterson is someone that legitimizes certain aspects of their movement because he’s a former professor, he’s an author, he wears a suit, so they feel like this is a real philosophy that should be taken seriously”.
Peterson said that “I thought, ‘I’d go see that movie.’ and perhaps I will”. He said that he hopes “[Chris] gets my fashion style choice right.”
