Jude Law, the actor known for his diverse roles, recently shared his thoughts on his portrayal of Yon-Rogg in ‘Captain Marvel’. While he enjoyed the experience, he expressed some regrets about the limitations imposed by the character and the costume.
Law wanted the character to be more humorous than he was. However, a lot of factors, including his rubber suit didn’t let him move freely or be funny. Moreover, he also talked about finding confidence in his work after making several films. Here’s everything he said.
Jude Law Reflects On His Time As ‘Captain Marvel’s Yon-Rogg
While grateful to portray Yon, Jude Law told Variety that he wanted the character to lean more into humor. “I wanted him to be more arch. I wanted to lean into the humor more,” Law stated. He also opened up about the challenges of performing stunts for the films and how it was hard to figure out.
“Also, those suits are hard to move in because they’re thick rubber. You go to stunt camp for a couple of months, where you’re doing all these fight rehearsals and learning to do all this stuff. And then you put the suit on, and you go, ‘Oh! I can’t touch my toes! How am I going to do all that stuff with this thing on?’ You figure it out though,” he explained.
Law’s comments highlight challenges of playing a superhero in a practical suit. However, despite these limitations, Law managed to deliver a memorable performance as the villainous Kree commander.
His portrayal of Yon-Rogg was both menacing and charismatic. Moreover, while Law may have had aspirations to push the boundaries of the character, his performance in ‘Captain Marvel’ still exceeded fan expectations and was critically acclaimed.

Jude Law also opened up about embracing a new phase in his career, marked by a greater sense of control and artistic freedom. “A big shift has been me taking the reins of my work,” Law explained.
“I’ve made nearly 60 films, and there’s a sense of confidence now, I suppose, in what I know I can get out of it and what a director can help me get out of it,” he added.

Law’s latest project, the Disney+ series ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’, is a testament to his evolving approach to acting. He was initially hesitant to take on the role but was eventually convinced by director Jon Watts, with whom he had a fruitful collaboration on the ‘Spider-Man’ films.
“I don’t think I would have dived in willy-nilly,” Law said. “I wanted it to be right, I didn’t want to be the guy that dropped the ball on ‘Star Wars.'”
Moreover, as Law continues to explore new roles and challenge himself as an actor, it’s clear that he is entering a particularly exciting phase of his career, with his fans equally excited.
