‘Pluribus‘ fans who want to get back to the weird but wonderful world of the show will have to bring a bit more patience. In the wake of a successful first season, Apple TV+ has brought Vince Gilligan’s highly successful sci-fi drama back for a second season.
However, Rhea Seehorn, who stars in the series, has announced that it still hasn’t been given a filming date.
Rhea Seehorn Confirms ‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Isn’t Ready To Begin Filming Yet

Rhea Seehorn said on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast that she doesn’t have any new information on when cameras will roll. It’s not the update fans were hoping for, particularly given the exciting first season, which left many questions unanswered.

However, the actress has stated that she is looking forward to taking on Carol’s role when production finally kicks off. The absence of a filming schedule might be alarming. But it doesn’t necessarily indicate that development has come to a halt.
Seehorn says Vince Gilligan and his writing team are working on the next chapter. It’s just taken a bit longer than they had anticipated. Gilligan had a general idea of where the story would go after season 1. But when the writers got together, they realized that they wanted to re-imagine many of those ideas from scratch.
“They got there and started doing what they call kicking the tires on all of it, and they basically just wanted to go back to square one. But I mean, I think that’s why these shows are so rewarding. He would even say he wishes he could get it back on sooner,” she explained.
Instead of going too fast, they opted to take their time to delve into new concepts and develop the direction of the season slowly and steadily. Seehorn also revealed that Gilligan himself would like to see the series come back sooner, but he is set on telling the story properly. That’s a dedication to quality that’s frustrating in the short term, but one of the reasons that Pluribus got such rave reviews upon its release.
Season 2 Is Unlikely Before 2028

The production schedule for season 1 gives some indication as to why season 2 is still so far away. The series was shot over a period of almost a year, followed by a long post-production phase, which included a lot of visual effects work. The long list of shows helped to develop the show’s ambitious Sci-Fi world.

However, that also means that future seasons will take a long time to come together. There is no production start date announced, and a return before 2028 seems increasingly unlikely. That’s a bit of a bummer for Carol fans, but there’s hope!
The writers are still working on the story, and Seehorn is excited to be back when called upon. ‘Pluribus’ is just the latest in a long line of TV shows that have adopted the trend of longer gaps between seasons. If season 1 is any example, Gilligan is not just trying to get to the end of the season quickly; he is looking to craft a chapter.
