Zendaya, on the other hand, is also a famous American actress and singer of color. Like Palmer, she has received various accolades including a Primetime Emmy Award. Many comparisons have been drawn between the two, which isn’t sitting well with Palmer.

Keke Palmer And Zendaya: The Colorism Debate
A recent tweet gained the attention of everyone as it compared Palmer’s role in Jordan Peele’s film ‘Nope’ and Zendaya’s outstanding performance in Hollywood. A social media user wrote that it is indeed one of the clearest examples of how colorism plays out in the industry. Although both have been child actors, Zendaya is now more of a mainstream star.
I'd like someone to do a deep-drive on the similarities and differences between Keke Palmer and Zendaya's careers. This may be one of the clearest examples of how colorism plays out in Hollywood. They were both child-stars, but their mainstream popularity is very different. https://t.co/Cmy1CXGQeI pic.twitter.com/etO27HVN0Y

Palmer has been receiving critical acclaim for her role alongside Daniel Kaluuya in ‘Nope’, which earned around $44 million at the weekend box office.
She also played the titular character on the three seasons of Nickelodeon series ‘True Jackson, VP‘, which debuted in the year 2008. She also did a voice role in this year’s Pixar feature ‘Lightyear’. Some other of her credits include ‘Akeelah and the Bee‘, ‘Scream Queens‘ and ‘Hustlers‘.
Keke Palmer Reacts To The Hot Debate
Earlier this week, Palmer shared her thoughts on the ensuing colorism debate that put her in the middle with Zendaya. She tweeted, “A great example of colorism is to believe I can be compared to anyone. I’m the youngest talk show host ever. The first Black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon, & the youngest & first Black Cinderella on broadway. I’m an incomparable talent. Baby, THIS, is Keke Palmer.”

She added, “I’ve been a leading lady since I was 11 years old. I have over 100+ credits, and currently starring in an original screenplay that’s the number one film at the box office #NOPE. I’ve had a blessed career thus far, I couldn’t ask for more but God continues to surprise me.”
