Acting transports you from oneself to another, and there are a bunch of characters that have shaken the hearts of many actors. The whole dynamics of a film can change depending on how the actor portrays the main lead. And Lady Gaga is not ready to compromise on her upcoming role as Harley Quinn in ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’.
The ‘Shallow’ singer has some tricks up her sleeve to keep herself in character throughout the movie shooting. It was the cinematographer Lawrence Sher who opened up about Lady Gaga’s need to be called a fake name on the set of ‘Joker 2′. Here’s the reason why.

Lady Gaga Wants To Be Called ‘Lee’ On The Set
In a recent podcast interview on ‘Trench Talks‘ with ‘Joker 2’ cinematographer Lawrence Sher, he opened up about how he had felt working with Lady Gaga during the initial days.
“Strangely, I felt like I never even met her, even during the makeup/hair tests. Because again, maybe it was my philosophy of not trying to get in their space. And then I remember for a week, being like, god, I feel like we are disconnecting. Not even connecting. We are like on opposites. And I would say to my crew, ‘Jesus, I can’t, like, crack it. She either hates me or we hate each other. There’s something weird going on here,’ Sher had confessed.
But then he added on how the ‘‘whole connection’‘ had changed as he started to call her Lee, as suggested by one of the crew members. “the next thing I said, was something ‘Lee,’ and it was like everything changed. From that point on, it was like she was… our whole connection changed. I was like, alright, cool,” the cinematographer commented how things had become better after that.

Is ‘Lee’ Short For Harley Quinn?
The Grammy award-winning singer has been stringent when it comes to her acting career. And the name ‘Lee’ that Gaga wanted to be called should be the nickname for her character, Harley Quinn. She would be taking up the role opposite actor Joaquin Phoenix who will be in the titular role of Joker. The ‘House Of Gucci’ lead had shared how invested she had been in playing the iconic character.
She had commented once on having “prepared for months developing my character for ‘Joker’. The movie is a sequel to Todd Philips’ 2019 blockbuster, Oscar-winning ‘Joker‘ and is set to hit the theatres in October 2024. The movie is said to focus on Arkham Asylum and its inhabitants. Brandon Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Zazie Beetz would appear in supporting roles.
