“What hurts the most is me just supporting Taylor, I support her, I love her work. There’s no ill intent in that joke,” said the comedian, expressing his disappointment at the misunderstanding.
Internet’s Reaction To Jo Koy Responding To The Backlash
The internet quickly responded to Jo Koy’s clarification, showcasing a diverse range of opinions.
While some defended the comedian, labeling the incident as a harmless joke that wasn’t insulting, others criticized him for further embarrassment. One Facebook user wrote, “Stop further embarrassing yourself. What a pathetic ‘comedian’. It’s called a JOKE ppl & it wasn’t even insulting. Jeeze!”
Another said, “Ughh…DON’T apologize- makes it look worse than it was. A harmless joke. She should have laughed it off like everyone else, but maybe that comes with maturity…”
The controversy highlights the fine line comedians tread in the age of social media scrutiny, where intentions may be misconstrued, and jokes can trigger unexpected reactions.
