Liam Payne‘s death shook the music industry and his fans worldwide. As many are still grieving and processing the sudden loss, new information about his death continues to come forward. The One Direction sensation died at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Argentina.
Initial investigation revealed that the singer was under heavy influence of drugs when he died. Now, his partial postmortem reports have revealed more details.
What Is Pink Cocaine?
According to reports from The Associated Press, toxicology tests show that Liam Payne had cocaine in his system at the time of his death. The final results of the tests are still pending and will probably not be released for several weeks.
Reports from ABC News and TMZ revealed that a partial autopsy confirmed the presence of a mix of drugs referred to as “pink cocaine“—a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA. Crack cocaine and benzodiazepine were also found, the reports claimed.
A senior official, speaking anonymously, said the preliminary findings “suggested evidence of exposure to cocaine,” but stressed that those results do not accurately reflect the amount that was present in his bloodstream at the time of death.
A preliminary autopsy report released last week cited “polytrauma” and “an internal and external hemorrhage” as the causes of Payne’s death. According to the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 16, he fell from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires on October 16 and is currently under investigation.
Autopsy Confirms 25 Injuries On Liam Payne’s Body
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of Liam Payne’s death as a “dubious” incident, given that he was reportedly alone when he fell. Emergency personnel arrived at the Casa Sur hotel after staff said a guest was “under the influence of drugs and alcohol” and had “destroyed some objects” in his room.
When they arrived, however, they found Payne already dead from injuries he had suffered from falling. Buenos Aires police found the room in disarray with broken objects all over it. Packs of clonazepam, energy supplements, and over-the-counter medications were scattered all over. In the courtyard where Payne’s body was found, a whiskey bottle, lighter, and cellphone were lying around him.

Later that night, the autopsy performed found 25 injuries that could be similar to a fall. These include severe craniocerebral lesions and significant internal and external hemorrhages.
Liam Payne became an instant sensation in 2008 after being discovered by Simon Cowell on ‘The X Factor‘. He went on to join Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson to form what came to be known as history’s most successful boy band, One Direction.
