Millie Bobby Brown’s Writing Debut
The ‘Stranger Things’ actress proved that she can do more than just act, produce and run a successful makeup line. She can, in fact, also write. Millie released her debut book ‘Nineteen Steps’ in September 2023, and got her first ever author’s hit.
The book was a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller and is inspired from Brown’s grandmother’s experiences during the World War II.
‘Nineteen Steps‘ tells the story of eighteen-year-old Nellie Morris, who lives in the Bethnal Green district of East London. As she embarks on a new relationship with Ray, an American airman, Nellie must deal with the hardships of wartime living, including bombings, rationing, and the psychological cost of being apart from loved ones.
The primary conflict in the book is based on real events, specifically the Bethnal Green Tube catastrophe, which claimed 173 lives as people sought refuge during an air raid.
Brown co wrote that book with Kathleen McGurl. Amidst the book’s success, it is now being turned into a film adaptation by Netflix.
