When the 1980s needed reinventive sitcoms after the formulaic dramas being aired on television, Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd-starrer ‘Moonlighting’ came as a breath of fresh air, twisting the rom-com and detective genres. Though many had nostalgia attached to it, it was not streaming on any platform. But the show found a platform on Hulu, and it is streaming now for audience viewing.
A lot has changed since ‘Moonlighting’ first aired. Cybill Shepherd, the eternal beauty, has gotten old and was spotted walking her dogs while on cane support. Bruce Willis had a drastic change in his life after his dementia diagnosis. In March 2022, Bruce’s family announced that he was diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that affects a person’s ability to communicate. After Emma Heming Willis gave a concerning update about his health, the ‘Moonlighting’ creator updated that he has become non-verbal.

As ‘Moonlighting’ gets home at Hulu, the creator of the late-80s rom-com detective drama, Glenn Gordon Caron, sits down for an interview with the New York Post. During the interview, he talked about Bruce Willis and his deteriorating health due to his aphasia condition.
He said that people who had known the actor before the disease knew him for his “joie de vivre.” Glenn said, “He loved life…just adored waking up every morning and trying to live life to its fullest.”
Glenn Gordon Caron gave another saddening update: once an ardent reader, Bruce Willis has lost his reading ability and has become non-verbal. Glenn added, “All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he’s still Bruce…When you’re with him you know that he’s Bruce and you’re grateful that he’s there, but the joie de vivre is gone.”
