Celebrities in Hollywood have often been open and candid about their struggles with mental health, breaking the stigma surrounding disorders and struggles and helping fans open up about their own. And Nick Cannon isn’t any different.
The comedian and TV host opened up about a recent mental health diagnosis he had and how he is coping with it. Here is everything he said.
Nick Cannon’s Psychological Issues
Nick Cannon is sharing more about his journey with mental health as he acknowledged that he “needs help” following his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) in an interview with People. The comedian made the admission a few weeks after disclosing on his Counsel Culture podcast that he recognizes almost all of the disorder’s “markers.”
“I still don’t understand it all the way, but I kind of always wanted to get tested for it. I did a bunch of tests,” he told the outlet, “I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD. Even as a kid it was dyslexia, but just knowing that I’m just a neurodivergent individual, I kind of always knew.”

“I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but it’s like, to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me.’ I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way. To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too,” he added.
Cannon’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder Journey
Cannon initially disclosed his diagnosis of NPD in his podcast’s November 8 episode, where he was joined by psychologist Dr. Cheyenne Bryant as a special guest.
He confirmed to Bryant that he had been “clinically diagnosed” with narcissism, saying, “I’ve taken all the power away from the term narcissism ’cause I’ve researched it, and I understand it.”
