Nicole Scherzinger Apologizes For Commenting On Russell Brand’s Post With A Different Version Of Donald Trump’s MAGA Hat

Nicole Scherzinger, best known as the charismatic lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, found herself in an unexpected storm of controversy this past week. The uproar stemmed from a comment Nicole left on Russell Brand’s Instagram post.

Brand’s post was about his support for Donald Trump, which didn’t sit right with many people due to their anti-republican views. With Trump winning the 2024 presidential election, it wasn’t the best time for Nicole to interact with a post showcasing support for the new president.

Russell Brand’s post showed him holding a red hat reading, “Make Jesus First Again.” While the phrase was clearly a riff on Donald Trump’s infamous “Make America Great Again” slogan, Brand’s hat appeared to signify a call to prioritize faith over politics.

However, Nicole Scherzinger’s enthusiastic response, “Where do I get this hat!!!?”, was met with immediate backlash.

Many interpreted the comment as an endorsement of Trump and the divisive political implications associated with his campaign and presidency. As social media erupted with debates and criticisms, Scherzinger swiftly deleted the comment. However, it was too late.

Screenshots of her response circulated widely. The controversy deepened as it coincided with renewed attention on Russell Brand. Brand faces serious sexual assault allegations spanning from 2006 to 2013, a period when his fame was at its zenith.

The association, however unintentional, struck a nerve with many of Scherzinger’s fans, who felt betrayed and confused.

In response to the public uproar, Nicole Scherzinger issued a statement via her Instagram Story. She began by expressing her deep regret: “I made a mistake of not realizing that they could be easily interpreted as being politically related and I apologize to anyone who understandably reached that conclusion.”

Scherzinger emphasized that she never intended to make a political statement. She reassured her fans that any assumption to the contrary was misplaced. “Many presumptions are being drawn, which do not reflect who I am, what I stand for, or who I voted for,” she wrote.

Many of the marginalized communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about most. I stand with them, as I always have, throughout my life and career,” she added. Scherzinger also shed light on her personal motivations, underscoring that her faith has been a beacon during challenging times.

She explained that her faith had guided her through everything, so she engaged with the post as she wanted people to “put Jesus first“. However, with the red hat, its font, and Russell Brand’s reputation, a lot of people questioned how Nicole could overlook such details.
