Alec Baldwin‘s ‘Rust’ shooting case has been haunting him since. Even though it was an accident, people still hold him responsible for the death of his co-star during the incident for which he has also been facing a case.
But the good days began for the actor, as his case was dismissed because the prosecutor failed to present the evidence in court. Even though the case is dismissed, Quentin Tarantino feels that Alec was also to an extent responsible for his actions as he had the gun in his hand.
Quentin Tarantino Holds Alec Baldwin Responsible For Holding The Gun During The Shooting
During the podcast ‘Club Random with Bill Maher‘, Quentin made comments on the ‘Rust’ Shooting. He says that Alec is “10% responsible” for the shooting and the death of Halyna Hutchins in 2021. Maher asked him “How can it be his fault?”
He questioned, “Like either you think he purposely shot that cinematographer or you think he didn’t purposely shoot her, and if he didn’t purposely shoot her then it’s all f*ing bullst, am I wrong?”
To which Quentin Tarantino replied, “It’s a situation, I think I’m being fair enough to say, that the armorer — the guy who handles the gun — the armorer is 90% responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun. “
He added, “But the actor is 10% responsible. “It’s a gun. You are a partner to responsibility to some degree”. The 66-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the case and has also cried in court. The case was dismissed in July as the prosecutor hid the evidence that may be linked to the Shooting. Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Quentin Tarantino Explained That There’s A protocol Of Dealing With Guns On The Set
Tarantino further explained the gun handling protocols on the sets of the movie while shooting. He said, “They show it to you. If there are steps to go through, you go through them. There’s due diligence”.
Talking more about this, the host of the show asked, “What should she have done? Look into the barrel”. Quentin explained that there are steps including showing the actor the barrel of the gun is clear. He added that while filming such scenes the onus is on the actor to flag any complications.
He continued, “If an actor knows he has three hot rounds in his gun and he knows that, ‘Okay I’m going to do a scene’ … If one of the rounds doesn’t go off while he does his bam bam bam then he should like cut the scene. And say, ‘Guys one of the rounds didn’t go off I think I’m holding a hot gun here.”
