Alec Baldwin was involved in the last year’s shooting on the set of ‘Rust‘. The tragic incident led to the film’s director of photography Halyna Hutchins getting shot and killed when a gun being used as a prop was fired by Baldwin during the preparation for a scene.
Another twist, in this case, has now emerged as Baldwin filed a cross-complaint on Friday seeking to “clear his name” in the shooting. He has also put the blame on three crew members and the man who supplied ammunition to the set. Let’s find out in detail about this.
Alec Baldwin Blames Crew For The ‘Rust’ Shooting
Last year, a lawsuit was filed against ‘Rust‘ actor Baldwin by Mamie Mitchell, the film’s script supervisor. Baldwin had accidentally shot and killed the film’s cinematographer.
Now, according to Variety, the 64-year-old has filed a cross-complaint on Friday. He seeks to “clear his name” in Hutchins’ death by blaming three crew members and the man who supplied ammunition to the set.
In the complaint, Baldwin said he relied on the four and Hutchins died because of their negligence. As a result, he experienced “immense grief” and suffered an “emotional, physical and financial toll.”
The document blames armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed for having “failed to perform her job carefully and as a result a live round was loaded into the gun that she had negligently failed to identify.”

What Did The Document Say?
Luke Nikas, Baldwin’s attorney, said: “More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy”.
He further said, “By these Cross-Claims, Baldwin seeks to clear his name and hold Cross-Defendants accountable for their misconduct.”
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office recently concluded its criminal investigation. Local prosecutors are now contemplating whether to file charges against Baldwin or the crew members.
The cross-complaint mentions a lengthy and detailed exoneration of Baldwin. It also includes text messages and photos from the Sheriff’s investigation. Baldwin has also accused the film’s first assistant director David Halls of not checking the gun carefully and declaring the gun to be “cold” (rounds with no charges) as he handed it to Baldwin.
