Ryan Reynolds Shades His 2011 Film ‘Green Lantern’ When Asked About Watching It With Family

Known for playing several superhero roles, Ryan Reynolds has been making headlines for his recently released Marvel film Deadpool And Wolverine. While he has been synonymous to his character Deadpool because of how long and how perfectly he has been playing it over the years, another one of his significant superhero role was in 2011 film ‘Green Lantern’.

Although fans find it sweet that Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively met at the set of ‘Green Lantern’, Reynolds recently revealed that he would not want to watch the movie with his family. Here’s why the actor said that.

Other than his impressive acting, Ryan Reynolds is also known for his humor. The actor seldom shies away from expressing his opinions on things with a tinge of humor, and he has done it yet again while talking about his 2011 movie ‘Green Lantern‘.

During a ‘Lie Detector’ section of an interview with Vanity Fair, Reynolds and his co-star Hugh Jackman sat down and spoke of many things, one of which included Reynold’s reaction to being asked if he had seen ‘Green Lantern’ with his family.

“I would actually, genuinely, rather watch just a f***ing 24-hour marathon of PAW Patrol, but I have not watched it as a family. My kids have seen the trailer,” he said. He also mentioned how the last time he watched the movie was during the pandemic. “During that time I’d finished Netflix, finished HBO Max, finished every streaming platform that exists,” he said.

I had watched all the f***ing Bob Ross specials backward, even, by the way, which is a shot-for-shot remake of The Exorcist, and time to watch The Green Lantern, yeah, I will say, a little drunk. That’s also truthful,” the ‘Deadpool’ actor said.

Green Lantern‘ didn’t get the best of reviews and ended up being a commercial flop, grossing only $220 million against a $200 million budget.

After the movie’s failure, DC had been skeptical about picking the character up again. But it seems that they have overcome the fear as it was recently announced that DCU would now start working on a ‘Green Lantern’ series to be streamed at HBO and Max.

“We are elated to be reuniting with both Chris Mundy and Damon Lindelof as they partner with Tom for this fresh take on DC’s Green Lantern,” said HBO and Max Content Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys. “As part of James and Peter’s vision for the DC Universe, this first new live-action series will mark an exciting new era.”

DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran added, “We’re thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon and Tom at the helm. John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with Superman.”

It’s safe to say that even though Ryan Reynolds is not very happy with his old film, he can give the revamped version of it another chance.
