Sebastian Stan is ready to play Bucky Barnes after making way from Donald Trump, but the transition hasn’t been smooth. Sebastian did an excellent job playing Trump in ‘The Apprentice‘, directed by Ali Abbasi. The film was highly anticipated, especially after it stirred the pot with Republicans getting furious over Trump’s portrayal.
However, now that the production is over, Sebastian is finding it difficult to step out of the shoes. While speaking in a recent interview, the actor opened up about his struggle to shed off the mannerisms picked up during his stint playing the former president. Here’s what he said.
Sebastian Stan Found ‘The Apprentice’ To ‘Thunderbolts’ Transition Difficult
Sebastian Stan, who plays Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice’, has admitted that he had a hard time coming out of the mode as he went back to shoot ‘Thunderbolts‘, another much-awaited Marvel movie scheduled for May 2025 release.
During an interview with ‘British GQ‘, Stan said, “I went off to Marvel after The Apprentice. And we were doing scenes, and I would do something, a thing or two, and be like, ‘Fuck! This is still living somewhere.'” Sounds like even superheroes can get stuck in their roles sometimes!
Early reviews described Stan’s performance as Trump in ‘The Apprentice‘ as nothing short of stellar. David Rooney from The Hollywood Reporter praised the portrayal: “Stan goes beyond impersonation to capture the essence of a young Trump,” he wrote, clarifying that the actor took a deep dive into Trump’s mannerisms
Sebastian Stan Opens Up About Physical Struggles While Preparing For ‘Thunderbolts’
Speaking more about getting back in shape for ‘Thunderbolts‘ as a bit of a challenge, Stan confessed to piling on the pounds for his portrayal of Trump by guzzling down Coca-Colas and peanut butter and jam sandwiches — a far cry from the lean, mean Winter Soldier physique. “It worked for Trump,” Stan said, “but it made transforming back into Bucky a challenge.”

“I’m fuckin’ 41,” Stan said, clearly feeling the effects of the body transformations. “I just worked pretty hard to get in shape here!” From ‘The Apprentice‘ to ‘Thunderbolts‘, Stan’s range is undeniable, if it also means bringing along a little bit of Trump for the ride.
‘The Apprentice‘ is set for a release on October 11.
