As shallow as it may sound, good looks and a good body are prerequisites for a person to shine in Hollywood. While there of course are several exceptions to the presumptions, ‘Modern Family‘ star Sofia Vergara isn’t one of them, and she knows it.
The actress rose to fame with her iconic character of Gloria in the hit sitcom ‘Modern Family‘. She played an exceptionally good-looking immigrant woman who got married to an older, rich American guy. While many may perceive such a woman as a gold-digger, Gloria defied the odds and emerged to be a beautiful character on the show. Now just as Gloria would have done, Sofia is owning her good looks and admitting to making the best of her privilege.

“I’m 51 Years Old And I’m Still Here”: Sofia Vergara Boldly Owns The Success She Got From Her Good Looks
Sofia Vergara is now set to shine as Griselda in her upcoming show of the same name. With the show set for release soon, the actress boldly accepted that her appearance is a key factor that led her to international stardom.
Speaking during an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País, Vergara said her body is her “passport to the world “. She further added, “My giant boobs and my body opened doors for me; they were my passport to the world when I was 20 years old when I started as a model, but today I’m 51 years old and I’m still here.”
Though many might carry a stigma for extremely good-looking women using their looks for success, Sofia is unapologetic about her privilege and making the very best of it. “It would be absurd to deny it or for that to make me feel bad,” she said.
However, she also asserted that her personality and the ability to take risks have added to her journey of sustaining her successful career. “There are women who are prettier, younger, who have bigger breasts and a better body than me, but I’m still around because I have demonstrated that I can stay,” she said.

Vergara Recalls How She Realized Her Looks Can Help Her
Despite being successful and having confidence in abundance, the 51-year-old also noted how she manages to remain modest. “I don’t do brain surgery, it’s just entertainment, and the worst that can happen to me is that they can say I look ugly or that this jackass doesn’t know how to act. I can take it,” she said.
Vergara recalled the time she started realizing her good looks could benefit her. It started when she noticed the initial perks she got from her looks in high school, where she began receiving attention from boys.
“From a very young age, I’ve known my strengths and I’ve played to them. But if you only see my boobs, then that’s your problem,” she said, asserting that her good looks perks were not sexual as opposed to what one may assume.
Vergara also addressed her recent divorce from Joe Manganiello, citing the age-old disagreement about having children as the reason for their split. “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she shared.
Although she said she respects those embracing parenthood later in life, the actress asserted she personally prefers to let life take its natural course as she is nearing her menopause.
