Superhit Roles Scarlett Johansson Missed Out That Would’ve Transformed Her Career

Scarlett Johansson may have won our hearts as the Black Widow in the MCU movies, but she, too, had a crisis of faith. The actress has opened up about how missing out on ‘Gravity’ made her question her career. She was up for the part of Ryan Stone that went to Sandra Bullock.

Johansson talked about having a difficult time transitioning from bombshell roles to substantial dramatic parts. While she’s thankful for ‘Iron Man 2,’ it wasn’t enough of an endorsement to advance her career. Like ‘Gravity,’ her career has been full of missed opportunities that would have made her a movie star long ago.

The MCU actress lost ‘Les Misérables’ to Anne Hathaway

Scarlett Johansson has had a remarkable career with notable film roles. However, in her case, the ones that got away were the roles that could have changed how her career could have looked. Long before ‘Gravity,’ the ‘Lost In Translation’ actress would lose ‘Jumanji’ to Kirsten Dunst at the age of 11.

Another big break was interrupted when the ‘Lost In Translation’ had laryngitis on the day of her ‘Les Misérables’ screen test. The role went to Anne Hathaway, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Due to scheduling conflicts, she also turned down playing Daisy Buchanan opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘The Great Gatsby.’
