Taylor Swift-Inspired Literature Becomes Real: Here’s The University Where You Can Study The Course

It’s officially Taylor Swift‘s world dominance era. After ending the US leg of her massive world tour, a re-recorded album release, another re-recorded album to be released, new music, and new music videos, Ms. Swift has now reached Ghent University. No, not to sing, aut as a source of study for the University in Belgium.

Yes, that’s right. Ghent University in Belgium is launching a literature course inspired by Taylor Swift, named ‘Literature (Taylor’s Version)’. The course will examine Swift’s songwriting topics, genres, and tactics through the perspective of literary criticism. Read on to know more.

You can now study Taylor Swift’s music and lyricism as a course at Ghent University in Belgium. The course will be taught by Elly McCausland, a Swift enthusiast and popular culture specialist. McCausland was motivated to construct the course after witnessing how Swift’s songs are frequently used in English literary classes. Swift’s use of metaphor, allusion, and symbolism will be among the themes covered in the course. Students will also explore how Swift’s songs address issues of love, grief, and identity.

Speaking of the course with The Guardian, McCausland said, “I’ve never had so many emails from excited students asking if they can take the course,” said McCausland, who is a professor at the Belgian university. “And actually non-students as well, people who are not part of the university and who want to participate in some way.”

“What I want to do is show students that although these texts might seem inaccessible, they can be accessible if we look at them from a slightly different angle,” she added. “So, Shakespeare, in some way, is actually addressing a lot of the same questions as Taylor Swift is today, which seems crazy. But he is.”

The course called ‘Literature: Taylor’s Version’, will begin in the fall and will capitalize on these relationships, using Swift’s work as a base for examining everything from 14th-century works to Margaret Atwood’s take on The Tempest.

What Is Next For Taylor Swift?

It’s safe to say she is probably the most unpredictable woman out there. After surprise dropping 1989 (Taylor’s Version), she just ended her US tour. She is currently on a world tour – her biggest yet – ‘The Eras Tour’. Starting from August 24 she will start her Latin American leg of the ‘Eras Tour’ along with Sabrina Carpenter. She has also announced the release date of ‘1989‘ (TV) and is expected to release the vault tracks and possibly new music videos soon.

Fans are speculating that Nicki Minaj and Harry Styles might feature in the album.

Swift’s fourth re-recorded album will be released on October 27, exactly nine years after the original album was released in 2014. The album has already received over 300,000 pre-orders, Swift’s most ever.
