Singer Teyana Taylor‘s reasons for filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Iman Shumpert, were recently accessed by TMZ. The divorce was filed back in January 2021, though the reasons were not clear.
Taylor has made several strong accusations against the former NBA player whom she married in 2016. Demanding full custody of their two daughters, Junie and Rue, Taylor said she has decided to separate after multiple attempts at salvaging the marriage and failing at all of them.

The singer said her husband is a “jealous emotional abuser” who got insecure after she started rising to fame. She asserted that her husband showed clear signs of being a toxic narcissist throughout their marriage.
She has also accused him of cruelty, that pushed her into a bad mental and emotional space. Iman would send her “manipulative and condescending messages” related to her career choices and decisions, thus making her compromise with her career for the sake of their marital relationship, she claimed according to the court documents.
She said because of Shumpert’s condescending behavior, she has turned down several opportunities that would have shaped her career for the good. She also alleged that the decisions led her into a financial crisis, even though, as a husband, Iman had no incentive to support their family after his retirement from basketball.

Taylor Claims Iman Shumpert Cheated On Her Multiple Times
32-year-old Taylor said there have been instances when his annoyance was visible even in front of the media, as he would snap and behave oddly when the photographers would ask her for solo shots at events.
Shumpert also cheated on her on multiple occasions, Taylor asserted. She said that she put considerable effort into saving her marriage but failed because of the alleged “extremely abusive environment“.
While the couple got back together temporarily during Shumpert’s hiatus from the NBA, Taylor said that his insecurities after his retirement took a toll on their relationship while he also refused to explore new career options.
The ‘White Men Can’t Jump‘ star officially confirmed the divorce on Instagram in September, but with a light note. In the post, she said that infidelity wasn’t a factor in their decision to separate. But she has claimed the opposite in the court, according to the documents.
