It was 2021 and Olivia Rodrigo called herself ‘the biggest Swiftie’ ever. She frequently posted about Taylor on her stories and was expressive about her admiration for Taylor Swift. She was “The Fangirl.”

Olivia Rodrigo Was The Ultimate Fangirl
Olivia Rodrigo had frequently expressed her admiration towards Swift, going as far as to say that she’s the ‘biggest Swiftie ever’. She talked about how Taylor Swift inspired her music and has been a constant source of influence in her life as a songwriter.
Rodrigo’s debut single ‘Driver’s Licence‘ debuted at number three, next to two of Swift’s songs, Rodrigo excitedly shared a screenshot on Instagram with the caption, ‘Next to Taylor on the US iTune’s list, I’m in a puddle of tears’. In return, Taylor left a comment on the post saying, “I say that’s my baby and I’m proud.”
Speaking of Taylor, Olivia said “I’ve always looked up to Taylor since I was literally five years old. Obviously I think she’s the best songwriter of all time, but she’s so business-savvy and she really cares about her career in that regard too – that’s been really inspiring for me to watch somebody take control of their career and their life like that.”
Now two years later, fans of both the artists are talking about how they haven’t interacted in a long time. Is a feud going on between them?

Are Taylor Swift And Olivia Rodrigo On Good Terms?
Most likely not.
Fans were quick to point out how Olivia Rodrigo didn’t attend the ‘Eras Tour’ and she frequently has been mentioning other artists in interviews but not Taylor. Taylor is also on tour as of now with Sabrina Carpenter, whom Olivia is known to be on bad terms with.
Not just that, the base of the feud might have a lot to do with Olivia copying Taylor’s music.
Swift’s musical impact on Rodrigo’s work was particularly apparent in her song “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back,” which was blended with Swift’s single “New Year’s Day,” when her debut album Sour was released in 2021. She did, in fact, tell Teen Vogue that “I came up with the ‘1 Step Forward’ concept and I sort of wrote a verse and a chorus. I was in the car on a road trip, and when I got home, I decided to sing it over the chords of ‘New Year’s Day.’”
Although this use of Swift’s work was permitted, fans soon discovered another credit for her in Rodrigo’s song. This time, the references were more subtly made. It seemed the bridge of Olivia’s song was highly similar to Taylor Swift’s Cruel Summer.
Oh you mean when Olivia retroactively gave songwriting credits to Taylor after copying Cruel Summer on deja vu? Taylor didn’t do anything to her, Olivia willingly gave it up because she was prob informed that TS and Paramore could sue her ass for a whole lot more.

There might be some beef or it might just be that they’re busy with their careers right now. Swift is on tour, while Olivia’s second album is about to come out this September.
