HBO’s upcoming series ‘The Idol‘ is created by Sam Levinson, the creator of the popular Emmy-winning ‘Euphoria.’ However, the show is already in the news for all the wrong reasons.

According to a Rolling Stone report, Levinson is accused of increasing the sexual content of the series and turning it into a “rape fantasy.” “It was like any rape fantasy that any toxic man would have in the show, and then the woman comes back for more because it makes her music better,” a production member revealed.

Another person said, “It was like, ‘What is this? What am I reading here?’ It was like sexual torture porn.” However, HBO is satisfied with the final product and is going ahead with it.

The report said that the series has “gone wildly, disgustingly off the rails.” Taking to his Instagram, The Weeknd has responded to claims made in the report. “Did we upset you?”, he wrote, sharing a clip from the series.

In the scene, Dan Levy pitches an idea for a photo shoot with Rolling Stone to Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp’s characters. Tesfaye plays the role of a cult leader named Tedros in the series.

Rolling Stone? Aren’t they a little irrelevant? … Rolling Stone has 6 million followers on Instagram, half of them probably bots. And Jocelyn has 78 million followers, all real I’d assume. So she does a photo shoot, she tags them, they get her followers. More money for Rolling Stone, nothing for Jocelyn,” his character says in the clip.
