Timothée Chalamet walked in the chaos of several young men looking like him in Manhattan in a surprise cameo at a lookalike competition on Sunday. Flanked by bodyguards, meeting and greeting a sea of high-cheekboned, curly-haired, fashionably dressed lookalikes, the actor drew heavy excitement.

In a Hollywood twist, Chalamet’s fans were apparently confused after Chalamet entered the crowd, and started paying attention to the impostors, sometimes even mistaking them for the actor. Some participants at the lookalike contest were dressed like his iconic characters, Willy Wonka and Paul Atreides, from his hit films ‘Wonka’ and ‘Dune’, with rather eerily similar characteristics to the actor.

The contest got a massive response with thousands of participants leading to chaos that got officials involved. When things blew out of proportion, the officials also issued a dispersal order and arrested one person.
Timothée Chalamet’s Look-Alike Contest Saw One Arrest And $500 For The Event
It was one of the several lookalike competitions staged by YouTube personality Anthony Po, a net sensation. Distributed by flyers throughout New York, the event offered a paltry $50 to the most convincing Chalamet double and attracted thousands who RSVP’d.

However, it seemed that the viral factor of the event was when just minutes into the event, Chalamet made his electrifying entrance. The NYPD immediately ordered the dispersal of the crowd in Washington Square Park.
The event was slammed with a $500 fine for the “unpermitted costume contest“, and also saw one contestant getting arrested under unknown charges. The final hour, however, belonged to audience favorite, Miles Mitchel — a Staten Island college senior dressed in a purple Willy Wonka costume, who won the crown.
