Last month, Cruise shared a nostalgic video on Instagram, featuring some of his notable roles in movies such as ‘Top Gun,’ ‘Mission: Impossible,’ ‘Jerry Maguire,’ and ‘Edge of Tomorrow.’ As Tom delivers the popular MI tagline, “Everything you were, everything you’ve done, has come to this,” the video transitions into a teaser for ‘Digger.’

“I have been blessed over the course of the last 46 years to work alongside countless talented artists and crews to bring these characters, stories, and films to you,” he wrote in the post’s caption. “I am looking forward to seeing you at the movies! DIGGER. Only in theaters this October.”

Meanwhile, Cruise described the movie as “totally original,” admitting no other project had challenged him this way. Moreover, the actor shared that it took him 40 years to “put on the boots of Digger Rockwell.”

Iñárritu co-wrote the movie with Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacobone, and Sabina Berman. Alongside Cruise, the cast includes Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, and Emma D’Arcy. ‘Digger’ will hit theaters on October 2.

By ditching the stunts for an unrecognizable character, Cruise just proved that the greatest challenge for a good actor isn’t avoiding danger but losing yourself in art that speaks to you.
