Travis Kelce is all set to make his grand entry into the realms of reality TV after asserting dominance on the NFL field and in his stunning debut on Ryan Murphy’s ‘Grotesquerie‘. The Chiefs tight end announced earlier this year that he shall be hosting the reality show ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?‘, and his fans were excited, to say the least.
Recently on his ‘New Heights‘ podcats, he also shared that he was cheered by his girlfriend Taylor Swift, and other family members on the first day of his shooting for the show. However, the star has now confessed that he is scared of people’s judgment about his performance on the show. Here’s all Kelce said.
Travis Kelce Is Nervous About His Role As A Game Show Host
Kansas City Chiefs star and tight end Travis Kelce is leaving the football field and entering the game show host stage — but not without a little nervous energy. The 35-year-old recently revealed on his ‘New Heights‘ podcast with brother Jason Kelce that he’s “scared to death” over how fans will receive his new gig: hosting ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’
The Prime Video series is set to premiere on October 16, and Kelce is far from trying to hide his nerves. “I’m scared. Scared what people are gonna say,” Kelce admitted during the recent episode of his podcast. But that doesn’t mean he’s not up for the challenge.
The NFL pro hinted at a few twists in the show, teasing, “There are a few twists to this game, and I do a great job of describing it in the episodes. So you’ll get caught up to all the rules and regulations we got going on with the celebrities.”
‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’ is the celebrity-edition version of ‘Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?’, with a brand new twist. A star-studded lineup of Nikki Glaser, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Lilly Singh, Ron Funches, and Natasha Leggero lend their smarts to help contestants answer elementary-level questions.
Travis Kelce Recalls Mimicking Game Show Hosts As A Kid
Travis Kelce further said that he’s been more confident about explaining the format of the game than playing it himself, particularly when it comes to scoring touchdowns. “I’m a terrible reader,” he admitted, describing his prep work by quizzing himself behind the scenes.
“I would read [the questions] once just so… I would make sure I’d get all the pronunciations done and corrected in the background,” he admitted. Even as the pre-match nerves got him, Kelce couldn’t help but reminisce about how much fun filming was.

“I never in a million years thought I was ever going to be an actual host of a game show,” he said, recalling how he used to mimic game show hosts when he was a kid. Now, it’s a reality.
