Trisha Paytas is well known for their controversial statements and debatable actions. From posting ‘hot takes’ on social media that were deemed controversial to getting hate for spreading misinformation regarding their identity and sexuality, Trisha has been on the receiving end of backlash numerous times. It seems this time their newest subject of controversy is Selena Gomez.

“She Has That Rare Disease” – Trisha Paytas On Selena Gomez
In true Trisha Paytas fashion, they have made another one of their insensitive jokes about Selena Gomez and her disease.
Speaking on the JUST TRISH podcast, Paytas sat down to discuss celebrity brands and the inspiration behind their names. They started with being surprised that Fenty is Rihanna’s last name and serves as the inspiration for the brand. Then they went on to guess if r.e.m. is inspired by Ariana’s ‘secret’ last name. They continued and said Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty might be inspired by her rare disease and they chuckled.
Oscar Gracey, Trisha’s co-host, then retorted, “I don’t think she named it after Lupus.” Trisha responded, “OK, maybe not.” They continued, “I feel like it could be cute… To have something rare about you is special, but I don’t know.” When Oscar mentioned that Selena had a song named ‘Rare’, Trisha stuck to her idea and inquired, “Oh! Was it about her sickness?“
This sparked some controversy as Selenators were outraged that they would joke about a life-altering disease that Gomez has been struggling with for years.
This isn’t however, the first time that Paytas has received hate from selenators. Recently they got hate from selenators for ‘recreating’ a Gomez picture.

Trisha Paytas Recreates Selena Gomez’s Viral Meme
Selena Gomez had a viral meme recently where she sat down with a blanket and looked stunning. The picture went viral and people started making memes out of it, Gomez even posted a few on her personal accounts.

Trisha Paytas then recreated the blanket meme. They posed with the same blanket, giving the same expressions and posted that on social media. Fans, however, weren’t very happy about it.
