Tyrese Gibson, the ‘Fast & Furious‘ franchise star, is no stranger to the spotlight. Known for his smooth R&B voice and action-packed roles, he’s been a fan favorite for years.
But this time, he’s caught in a completely different type of spotlight — one he’s probably not thrilled about. The 44-year-old actor recently found himself back in court, not for a Hollywood role, but for something much more personal: child support. Here’s what went down.
Tyrese Gibson Handcuffed In Court Over Child Support Payments
Tyrese Gibson has been locked in an ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, over payments for their daughter, Soraya. Despite his fame and fortune, things took a dramatic turn during a recent court hearing in Atlanta when the actor was ordered to pay a significant amount of back support.
In a dramatic twist, Gibson was arrested after being found in contempt of court for underpaying child support. According to court documents, the actor was supposed to pay $10,690 per month but had only been handing over $2,200. During the recent hearing, Judge Kevin Farmer ordered Tyrese Gibson to pay up a total of $73,525.73, including $7,500 in legal fees, or face jail time.

Tyrese Gibson’s Social Media Rant And Battle With The Court System
Before his arrest, Tyrese Gibson took to Instagram, letting his followers know about his impending court battle. In a now-deleted post, the actor didn’t hold back, accusing the court system of being unfair to fathers.
“Samantha’s lawyer Adam Gleklen and William Alexander who are besties with the judge Kevin M Farmer [ collusion ],” Gibson claimed in the post. He also added, “We are APPEALLING [sic] ALL OF HIS RULINGS AND ALREADY HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS JUDGE THROWN OFF THE BENCH TWICE.“

This isn’t the first time Gibson has faced a heated courtroom exchange. In a 2022 hearing, he snapped at one of Samantha’s lawyers when it was claimed that he earned $2 million the previous year.
Judge Farmer was quick to put Gibson in his place, warning him, “You don’t ask questions! That’s not how this works!!” That hearing resulted in Gibson being ordered to pay $169,000 in back support, and the battle has only escalated since.
