‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ has created hype among the fans and will be the second instalment of the first Joker movie. Venice Film Festival’s chief, Alberto Barbera shared more details about the film, which will surely make you more excited about it.
Barbera talked about the Venice Film Festival’s biggest lineup and boldest stars of 2024, during which he also added that ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ will be much darker than the first Joker film while appreciating the persona of Lady Gaga.
‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Will Have “Much Darker” Tone The Previous Film
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Alberto Barbera was asked about his views on the previous Joker film and the upcoming one. Barbera replied, “Yes, I think so. If you expect just a second part of the previous one, the same kind of narrative and situation and so on, you are wrong because the theme is much darker”.
He added, “It is much more inventive from every point of view. It’s completely unexpected. I think it is very bold, and brave, and creative, and an incredibly original film”.
Joaquin Phoenix is reprising his role as the Joker and Lady Gaga is going to play the role of Harley Quinn. The film is going to be a musical delight. The French translation of the movie is ‘shared madness by two people in close association‘.

Alberto Barbera Called Lady Gaga The Perfect Example Of a Special Moment
Barbera thinks Lady Gaga is a star born and she is the special moment. He further described her red carpet moment. “It was magic, because she was on the red carpet with this beautiful white dress with feathers and so on, and then it started to rain, but she didn’t want to leave the red carpet”, he said.
Barbera further said, “She stayed on the red carpet taking photos, signing autographs and so on. And then she was completely wet. So she came to my office, trying to dry herself and gown”.
Barbera and Bradley Cooper were discussing the film and the expectations around it. That’s when Lady Gaga came out of the office trembling and she said, “Oh, I don’t understand why. You should be used to this, being in concerts with hundreds of thousands of people waiting for you.”
Barbera continued, “She told me, ‘Yeah, of course, but this is my first time in a film.” So she was shaking, but then of course the response of the critics and the audience to the film was fantastic. It was a beautiful evening for everybody.”
Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ was widely appreciated by the fans he also bagged an Oscar for the character portrayal. Fans are eagerly waiting for his chemistry with Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn and what this duo will bring to the big screen.
