James Gunn has seemingly bewildered the fans with a never-ending cast list of ‘Superman: Legacy’. Clark Kent and Lois Lane were the most obvious characters, but Gunn went on with Hawkgirl, Guy Gardener, Metamorpho, and Mister Terrific, leaving the fans in utter confusion about the direction of the story.
‘Superman: Legacy’ will not be just any other Superman movie, instead, it will be a loaded DC epic with fresh faces and an exalted plotline. However, James Gunn originally wanted a simple story until he received orders from his superior to add more characters to the script.

Why Did James Gunn Load ‘Superman: Legacy’ With Iconic Heroes?
According to Syl Abdul, a YouTuber claimed that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and Jame Gunn’s boss David Zaslav is indeed compelling for extra heroes and additional apparatus with an agenda in mind. Abdul tweeted, “James Gunn originally aimed for [Superman: Legacy] to be simply a Superman story, and it still is BUT the inclusion of this already full DC world backdrop seems to have been pushed by Zaslav.”
The Youtuber further added, “This film is Zaslav’s way of showcasing the DC world to [a] potential buyer.” Surprisingly, the sale of DC was predicted years ago, by a former employee Van Sciver. Since AT&T was the principal owner of Warner and all its assets, Van Sciver’s predicted that WB might cut bait with the publisher.
However, the merger of WarnerMedia with Discovery did not fix any problems instead left Zaslav to deal with tremendous debt. However, the CEO’s aim was to get the cash flow of the company in order especially after the disastrous box office of ‘The Flash’. Zaslav found ways to cultivate debt and benefit from tax loopholes.

Can Warner Bros. Afford James Gunn’s Rebooted DC Universe?
The most disappointing thing for the DC Universe out of many things is the dismal box office of ‘The Flash’. The company is deeply buried under debt and Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Flash’ was supposed to produce big profits.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “David Zaslav is no studio mogul. Instead, he’s a programmer who made his bones by creating the lowest-common-denominator reality TV. His only successful strategy thus far has been trashing iconic Warner Bros. brands to save a few bucks. For that, he’s been paid nearly $500 million over the past two years, or the sum that WB Discovery is trying to get for the studio’s music publishing rights.”
And now James Gunn, the new boss of DCEU is facing the same problem that the previous boos, Zack Snyder faced, along with Walter Hamada and Geoff Johns. They were all put in a tough spot by executives with difficulty committing to a creative vision. But the failure of ‘The Flash’ did not stop Gunn and Peter Safran from dreaming about their rebooted DC Universe. Hopefully, the films from the renewed universe might flood in profits for the company.
