What Does Taylor Swift Law Mean?
Taylor Swift’s US tour left few of her fans disappointed as the sale of the tickets had been a disastrous event. The Ticket master who is responsible for selling tickets forced the public to queue for an indefinite hour in nippy winters. As a result of these incidents, Brazil passed a bill called the Taylor Swift Law.
The Taylor Swift Law bars ticket scalpers from reselling tickets for a share of the profit. As per the reports by Latesly, the punishment for the crime involves up to four years in prison and an additional fine up to a hundred times the ticket value.

Why Did Brazil Pass The Taylor Swift Law?
As famous and reputed as Taylor Swift’s concerts are, it is equally challenging to get hold of tickets. Fans in Sao Paulo had to struggle with scalpers after spreading days in line despite the freezing cold winter. As per the Brazilian Report, many Swities were left empty-handed as the tickets sold out in just 40 minutes, while the online queues had over two million people.
Sadly, many fans also claimed that were the victim of violent threats from scalpers who attempted to cut the line. Consumer protection officers removed over 30 scalpers from the ticket lines and arrested at least ten people. As per the reports, scalping is already illegal in Brazil, and offenders might get a sentence of up to two years in lockup though most cases result in community service. However, the newly passed law will keep these scalpers in check.
