Why Was Dominic West And Lily James’ Romantic Getaway Scandalous?

“You’ve Got The Wrong Guy”: The Actor Initially Turned Down The Role Of Prince Charles
The trailer for the new season of ‘The Crown’ is here. The ‘Affair’ actor will sketch the role of Prince Charles in the series. Though the series had mixed reviews, people unanimously agreed to the casting of Dominic West. However, the actor turned down the role when the producers offered him. In an interview, he said that he told the showrunner, Peter Morgan, “You’ve got the wrong guy. I don’t look anything like him.”
Another reason he cited was that he was intimidated by Josh O’Connor’s portrayal of the current monarch of the U.K. He said, “I’d been watching the show, I’d been a fan from the start. I was very conscious of Josh’s amazing performance, and his amazing success, and thought it was a bit of a hiding to nothing to try to follow that.” Connor won an Emmy for the role.
Consequently, the actor came to terms with the offer as it was not leaving his head. West said, “I thought about it for several weeks, and it was one of those things you can’t get out of your head. I realized that you’ve got to give it a go because you’ll regret it if you don’t.”
Talking about Prince Charles, he said, “He’s a fascinating man, Charles, and it’s a fascinating life, and a fascinating role. I mean, apart from anything else, it’s a huge show, and I loved the first four seasons. I realized that I could very happily live with this character for two years.”
